On April 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Constitution Hall of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Astana, Dostyk St., 11), an expert meeting was held on the topic “Historical research in Kazakhstan: reflection, focuses and vectors of development (based on the results of the IV meeting of the National Kurultai)”, organized by the Institute of State History, Scientific the Institute for the Study of the Jochi Ulus and the National Academic Library. The purpose of the event is to discuss current trends in historical science, teaching history and the formation of historical consciousness in the context of key theses voiced by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym–Jomart Tokayev at the IV meeting of the National Kurultai. Participants: deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, public and scientific figures, scientists of higher educational institutions and research organizations, domestic researchers and reputable experts.

On January 24, 2025, an international scientific and practical conference on “The Policy of Unity and Solidarity in Kazakhstan: experience and Prospects” was held in Astana at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, the Institute of State History of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The conference was organized to analyze and discuss the 30-year experience of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan in strengthening interethnic harmony and national unity, identify current challenges and prospects, and develop recommendations for the development of a policy of unity and solidarity in the face of global change. Esirkep, and the panel sessions were conducted by the Director of the Russian State Institution “Institute of State History” of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Pusyrmanov and E. Masagutova, Director of the Kogamdyk Kelisim State University of the Committee for the Development of Interethnic Relations of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.On the 30th anniversary of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, such important publications were announced as increasing the role of the state language as an instrument of interethnic communication, the widespread introduction of ethnomediation experience and the continuation of international cooperation in the field of ethnopolitics to share experiences with other countries. During the conference, a visiting exhibition of books, ethnic newspapers and magazines was organized, dedicated to the 30-year history of the Assembly. The issues of preparing history textbooks at the Institute of State History were discussed with the participation of scientists, experts and textbook authors, and subject teachers. The advancement of the younger generation, fueled by national values, directly depends on the lessons of history. At the same time, teaching and writing a new textbook require an innovative methodology.

On January 8, 2024, an expert discussion was held in Astana in the format of a round table “Fair Kazakhstan in the 21st century: new achievements and development prospects”, dedicated to the interview of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the newspaper Egemen Qazaqstan dated January 3, 2024. The History of Kazakhstan in Modern Western Historiography

Today, the Institute of State History hosted a scientific meeting with a researcher of complex historical processes that changed the face of Kazakh society in the 20-30s of the twentieth century, French historian, PhD Isabella Ohio. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the place and role of these processes in the formation of the identity of a new political and civil nation, the director of the Institute noted the establishment of new narratives in public discourse. He noted that the viability of the idea of a just Kazakhstan is combined with the modernization of the historical consciousness of the nation, as evidenced by the academic seven-volume development of the history of Kazakhstan. In turn, this study of new approaches in modern Western historiography will further deepen cooperation.
New steps towards international cooperation

The international scientific and practical conference “New steps towards International cooperation”, organized by the Institute of State History, took place today. The conference is timed to coincide with Republic Day and is dedicated to the further development of dialogue and international cooperation on the agenda. The conference was attended by Russian experts and historians from Bulgaria, the Republic of Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerkin Abil addressed the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech. Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor at Mimar Sinan Abduakap Kara University of Arts (Turkey) noted the humanitarian aspect of Kazakh-Turkish cooperation, including productive steps in the field of science and education, and also highlighted Kazakhstan’s outstanding initiatives during the years of sovereignty. The director and two scientists of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan specially came to this event, who intend to get acquainted with the experience of the Institute of State History, which turns 15 this year. At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed between the Institute of History of the State of Kazakhstan and the Institute of State and Law of Uzbekistan.
A new quality of the nation is in the historical memory

Today, the Institute of State History and the project office of the State Commission for the Full Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression discussed the priorities of their work. In this regard, the head of the project office, S. A. Kasymov, noted that work on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression is in full swing. At the same time, a collection of terms related to political repression is being prepared. The director of the Institute, N.Pusyrmanov, noted that “rehabilitation measures for victims of political repression, together with the revival of national memory, strengthen civic consciousness. The core of our national identity also coincides with this period,” he said. Further cooperation on the investigation of the case will be deepened. It should be recalled that on July 5 of this year, on the eve of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Astana, the Institute of State History and the State Archive of Astana signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation. Within the framework of the memorandum, the project “the secret of history – in archival data” was launched.
